8/12 - We's in THE KNOW

We awoke dazed and confused in a rest stop about an hour north of Arcata. Although it was just a rest stop, giant redwoods surrounded the parking lot. It was totally beautiful, capped in fog in the early morning. After a quick washup, we hit the road towards Portland, OR!

Scrubbin' the eyeballs
We took a quick walk around the surrounding woods that was unfortunately cut short by our time schedule. Some of the stumps of the old redwoods are unfathomably massive.

At midday, everyone had the rumblies in our tumblies. It was time for some Autolatry lunch! We pulled over on the side of the road to a little pullout with a dazzling swimming hole below. Joe took a swim because he had boxers on. Unfortunately, everyone else was freeballing it so we couldn't go swimming without mortifying the family 50 feet away.
A skinnydipping metal band here WOULD have been awesome though.
When we reached Portland, we went right to the venue. The place was called The Know, (and they had a sick sign). It was a cool little punk bar that seemed to have a lot of local recognition. The surrounding area is also superb! The street, Alberta st, is full of sick little bars, restaurants, health food stores, and other awesome shit. There was a little Mexican restaurant that we all went to and got some cheap as fuck delicious food. They had plates of taquitos for under $3.

The know..

Would you believe it if I told you that it cost $3?
We shared the stage with 2 other sick bands. First up was Dead By Dawn, a weird horror-rock band. It was surely a crazy experience. Definitely check em out if you don't know them. They rock! Autolatry took the stage second, and we had a great time. Plenty of people came out (although the locals called it a shitty turnout). We had an excellent night! Closing the night was Spectral Tombs. They wowed the fuck out of us. Seriously, one of our favorite bands that we've played with. They're tight as hell, and they're straight up amazing. They're leaving on tour in support of their new album in September, so go out and see them! Hitting a lot of places from Texas back to Oregon. Go buy their shit, and tell them AUTOLATRY SENT YOU!!!

Setting our shit up, ROCKING BALLS
Stay tuned for our writeup of Seattle tomorrow!!!!!!
