8/10 - Autolatry does the misty mountain hop!

We spent the night at Marcia’s house in Inverness Park, CA. It’s a beautiful little coastal town near Point Reyes. We didn’t start sleeping until close to 3AM so waking hour ended up being 12:30 PM (shit!) Marcia, my lovely godmom, cooked us an absolutely delectable breakfast of scrambled eggs with tomatoes, toast, goat cheese, and fruit. She really knows how to cook some healthy, quality food. After throwing some laundry in and taking some showers (outdoor showers fucking rock!), Marcia made sure to get us on our way to some beautiful natural sights of the Pacific NW.

Mouthwatering delights

Dave: ERRR BANANERRR
Selena: Jesus christ I can't even look at this dumb asshole.

She took us up the road to Point Reyes National Seashore. It’s an absolutely stunning area. The transitions of weather are absolutely crazy in that area. Marcia’s house 20 minutes away was sunny and warm, and the tops of Point Reyes were covered in heavy fog and windy as fuck! Such an awesome experience. If we had gotten there earlier, the fog wouldn’t have been there, but it made for some very black metal photos. We even managed to see the tule elk. Entire herds of them even! We spent plenty of time hiking around the foggy trails of Point Reyes, but we had a show to get to in Oakland, so we couldn’t walk the entire trail.

TULE ELK!

Hey yeah

Look Karl I'm a tree

Procession above the ocean

As beautiful as it was up there, one thing was for sure, the road there was very brutal. Steep and winding inclines with shitloads of bumps and potholes are NOT recommended for a trailer full of band gear from the 1980s. Our trailer started tilting…… That’s one way to put it lightly. It straight up broke. This thing was seriously fucked up. The crossbeam on the bottom was severed. So we took it very carefully back to Marcia’s and then worked out a gameplan to get to Oakland. She wished us off well, (and sent us off with bread!) and then we navigated over to a home depot to try and get this trailer back in working order. If there’s one thing that’s confirmed this, this experience in the home depot has affirmed that Karl Chamberlain is an American badass. He jumped under that car and pulled something together real quick to get us to Oakland. A temporary solution, but nonetheless, effective as all hell. Before too long, we were ready to rock and roll! We hopped into the car Oakland bound and reached the venue only 15 minutes behind schedule!

The venue was SICK! It is in a converted warehouse complex. A bunch of metalheads from the area cleaned it up, occupied it, and turned it into a venue. Dubbed the Casa Sangre, it was truly awesome place to ply a show. We highly recommend it to anybody who is playing in Oakland. We played with some great black metal bands. All the sounds meshed well together. Opening the night was Witching hour, black thrashing madness! Second was a sick band called Vile Mass who captivated the audience. Third was the promoter, Cesar, and his band, Crucifixion, who killed it! We took the stage last and met up with our old CT friend Yegor (guitarist in Engraved). We had a great show, and then Yegor hung out with us for awhile. Without a place to stay in San Fran, he SO KINDLY set us up for the night in a Days Inn an hour north of Oakland. We are eternally grateful to him, and YEGOR! If you're reading this, then just know that you're the man and we owe you big time!

Today we're off to Arcata, but not before we kick out to a home depot to further repair our trailer! Stay tuned for more raging madness! WOOOOO!
