7/13 - The REAL start of tour + new friends and fun times at JR's in Philly, PA!

Although last night's Worcester gig at Ralph's officially marked the start of our tour, Friday in Philly felt like show #1 to us.  We've played so many one-off gigs in Worcester and the surrounding areas that yesterday just felt like another show, especially since we got to sleep in our own beds afterwards (for the last time!) So when we hit the road from the Autolatry base camp in Mansfield, it felt like the true beginning.

JR's Pub is a fantastic place to play and see a show.  Inside it is a tiny, little dive with just enough room for the band in a corner, and even just a few people would make the place look packed.  The dark lighting and ambience of the place combined with everyone's good vibes made the environment extremely enjoyable!

This was our best set yet.  Granted, it's only our second time playing this summer, but everything was a lot tighter and more locked in than Worcester.  Any jitters had at the Ralph's gig have completely dissipated from the stage performance and it really feels like being part of a well-oiled machine on stage!  We just had an absolutely killer time!

We again played with some fucking fantastic bands last night.  Ashencult (http://www.facebook.com/ASHENCULT) started the night with a kick to the chest from their dirty and disgusting slamming black metal.  VYGR (http://www.facebook.com/CurseThisEarth) took the stage after Autolatry, and absolutely blew us away.  We are all big fans of this band, but their tight performance and sludgy heaviness was even better than expected.  Vattnet Viskar (http://www.facebook.com/vattnetviskar?ref=ts) followed, and they too impressed the hell out of us. Significantly more ambient, what stuck out about their set was the intricate choreography of guitar effects and general pedal-dancing.  Awesome stuff!  Dirt Worshipper (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dirt-Worshipper/175006585878912) Closed out the night with a fun and lively set.  They included a lot of very awesome dynamic changes and clean guitar sections that I was not expecting, making a good performance even better!

We've met some amazing people in Philly and we are excited to come back for next time!  Huge thanks our brothers in Ashencult for opening their home to us, as well as their general awesomeness.  Thanks goes out to the VYGR and Vattnet dudes for being so damn cool! Also we must thank Chris from Vattnet Viskar for trying to find us a replacement show for Saturday.  You've gotta be the nicest fucking dude in metal! And of course, a colossal THANK YOU to Evan Madden, the man responsible for booking this tour and organizing this show.

Not sure where we are playing today (Saturday 7/15) as our Richmond date was cancelled last minute.  You'll find out what happens tomorrow!  Until then, here's Joe being the first one asleep at the Ashencult house.
